IndyWomen is a group of young women who are not content with the personal, social, economical or legal situation of women in Lebanon today, and we are channeling our combined energies into creating a feminist movement of change.
We believe first and foremost in the sexual and reproductive rights of women, in their right to live in a world free of sexual harassment and objectification. We want to counter the patriarchal social norms and ridiculous media portrayal of females as a weaker sex. We want to create a rape hotline, a women's center, and support groups. We want to help women to become financially independent and to receive equal pay as men. We want the Lebanese government, parliament, and municipalities to have as many women as men in leadership positions. We want social and political role models who work on women's rights and inspire young generations of feminists.
Obviously, there is a lot of work to be done and we need your help to do it! If you share our vision of a better world and our ideals of social justice, please get in touch and join our movement. Email Nadine Moawad, League Member, on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on how you can get involved.
